Being a repo host is the least important aspect of GitHub. We're concerned about who owns the view/search/communication tools that aren't: a) decentralized, b) part of Git or c) open source.

So why weren’t you concerned before when GitHub has always had its core non-GPLd or even MITd or BSD licensed?

You realize that given coming of
#GDPR , and the fact that#Microsoft has made it it's gold standard for dealing with customer data across the world, there's no better place for your repositories. Also,#Microsoft runs the largest GitHub repo in the world, so it knows git best. -
