Yikes, But this is revealing of how some people see this issue. I think I'd tell them not to publish it, and explain why, but its a tough decision because science communication is so important.

I think I'd respond by explaining why using a person's proper pronouns has nothing to do with religion or culture, is not political unless we let people make it be, and is about decency, not about telling people how to behave socially.

Wow. How are your pronouns anything to do with anyone else's beliefs or culture. That's about your identity that, IMO, they're trying to strip away. I'm sorry but this is unacceptable.

I’m kinda confused. If they’re going to use they/them, why not explain? Also, I just don’t trust anyone who uses the excuse of being non-political for anything they want to avoid . Like damn, you mentioned your pronouns, you didn’t campaign for a politician??!

The only thing I asked is for them to replace "she" in the introduction (which came up twice) with "they". That's it.
