AFAIC I'm anti taking painkillers for inconveniences that could help one learn/grow. Unbearable pain that stops them from living life fully is a diff question. Q: is there a psychological-moral equivalent of such pain, can a pandemic be it & can this be an acceptable painkiller.

there's no bright line between real problems and imaginary ones though. obviously there are things that fit more in one bin than another, but even then it's quite easy to mis-label problems.
