Also, if “cool guy” dynamics are prevalent, we should see lots of “runs” of stocks going steadily up and then crashing, at whatever the timescale of social narrative moves at (months?). Ie they should have a preferred timescale instead of being true GBMs. Does *that* sound right?

Seems a little strange to think of Value and Contrarianism as being in conflict - typically we think of Value strategies as being contrarian investments in companies that the consensus thinks are trash.

Yes. Value investing can only make money if the mainstream is wrong a lot — ie If most people aren’t value investors already.
