It’s still hard for me to admit it when I’m feeling contempt. Self-contempt has been a lot easier to me to process the past few years. http://becomingeden.com/appreciating-contempt/ … Not sure how to relate to feeling contempt for others though. Noticing it and breathing is a start I guess.

I claim there’s a thing upstream from economic illiteracy that makes it so these disputes are very unliekly to be resolved by laying out valid arguments. And IME it’s the largely same reason people routinely un-self-awarely have destructive arguments. https://twitter.com/diviacaroline/status/1245067801561194501?s=21 …https://twitter.com/diviacaroline/status/1245067801561194501 …

At least sometimes the difference between "economic illiteracy" and "economic literacy" is actually exposure to economic concepts; for instance, in the case of all of us who at some point in our lives become cool with commerce & trade.

Yes! That’s why sometimes it works to just read a textbook. I think there’s a close analogous between the situation here and this clip about On the Road from Freaks and Geeks. https://youtu.be/fzcPYw1iZo4 Maybe I’ll do a thread.
