It is very risky to be used by unprotected personnel. Highly aerosolizing. In hospitals, we are avoiding NIPPV and intubating early unless other clinical indications require cap/bipap

If needed, a good compromise would be to equip the provider with a PAPR, then use NIPPV. Seems like a reasonable compromise
