mostly this is inside baseball for the whole #buildventilators thing. I'm using the same terminology doctors do.
the big question is: if you don't have access to hospitals and medical professionals, is some kind of non-invasive, home-usable ventilator potentially better than *nothing*? it's not better than a hospital. but you might not have a hospital. (esp. if you're in a poor country.)

this post was about lots of diseases that make you not able to breathe. if you put these people on non-invasive ventilators some of them are gonna fail -- and now you need doctors and nurses and beepy things and sharp knives and, worst case scenario, you don't have those things.

but how often is the non-invasive ventilator gonna fail? and how often is it good enough and you're fine? I looked at ALL THE STUDIES I could find and it looks like you're fine 85% of the time.
