I mean, what would you call this? "We do not revitalize the European spirit by slavish dedication to the words of the dead, but by breathing life into those words, by cultivating our own vitality and embodying that spirit in a way that is unapologetically...

As presented, I’d call it a quote taken out of unknown context. In any case, my Twitter wall will not be a place for anyone else’s cancel culture. You cancel who you want, and I’ll block anyone who seems to be disobeying my good-discourse norms.

Here is the context: "By including the words of great men in my work, I give them renewed life. Any other attitude is drudgery and death. By leveraging the greatness of others I am able to reflect back some of their glory. This is the true meaning of the western canon."

Apparently I can’t read it because I blocked this person at some point.

(Yes, I know I can view it anyway. I’m not going to. I have the basic mental discipline to not spend my life reading things I hate.)

That’s fair. I’ll ask this one time, then, and if you respond negatively I won’t bring it up in your replies again. If such sources are provided showing a person is a white nationalist, do you still object to people talking about it?

Given our current intellectual climate and its problems, I consider it a deontological and general rule that on my Twitter wall you cannot call somebody a “white nationalist” unless they call themselves that.

The good that could imaginatively be done by truthfully and accurately saying somebody secretly has a bad identity they are hiding, seems in practice to be vastly outweighed by the real and observed harm of misuses and the resulting climate of accusations.

Actually the use case seemed reasonable to me. If a guy says he wants to embody a perspective that is “unapologetically white, heterosexual, and patriarchal”, his blog is gonna upset me to read, and I now know not to click that link unless I’m having a high-fortitude day.

I took the claim that he’s a Nazi as “meh that could mean a lot of things” but the quote from his twitter as “yep this person will be draining to read, whatever good ideas, if any, he might also have.” & I appreciate the heads-up, in general.
