Well, I had a friend who had the “dark realization” of what people were really like, and then didn’t want to deal with people at all, didn’t want to have a girlfriend, and was really angry to the point he was afraid he’d commit violence.

(He converted to Christianity because it gave him the message “yes, people really are that bad, but you should be kind to them anyway”. But he still ended up pretty sad, I think. Resigned, not pleased.)

He would have been way better off if he never formed a model of what people were like, such that he assumed the people who did him wrong were outliers and everyone else was fine.
