"Work" is a bad concept. Fulfilling work is much, much easier and more fun than childcare. Unfulfilling work, or physically taxing work, is harder and less fun than childcare.

Most "work vs childcare" articles are aimed at people goofing off at office jobs -- i.e. they are richer than the average American, and, male or female, they are having a *much* more relaxing time than they would if they were at home with a small kid!

However, I'm gonna bet that surveys of *women with jobs* include a lot of, say, women who work in retail. Would you rather spend an hour working retail or chasing your own adorable toddler? I'd pick the toddler, and so would most of them.
