I think the situation is even worse than it appears, based on experience w my 66yo father who spent a year dying of similar brain tumor. was old enough for horrendous prognosis (median survival 4 months) but not old enough for anyone in establishment to tell him decline treatment

he was indeed assigned what sounds like a truly inept "palliative care" doctor who probably billed $1k per visit to do what sounded like nothing other than tell my dad to "eat what he wants" which my dad thought was good health news not palliative advice
