He used to though! He used to be man-shaped. Yahweh as an abstraction is a later creation. It was *very hard* to get people to stop seeing him as having a human (or animal) shape, and I'm not sure it fully succeeded!

It's not a trivial point whether we're excluding from the definition of "god" the Abrahamic traditions' current targets of worship - it's the sort of thing that I'd expect any sincere ostensive definition to be careful to specify.
