There are posts on Scott's blog which are Scott being extremely good at math (but not noticing, because he thinks math is something it's not). So count me as someone who doesn't believe he's "bad at math".
Yeah, GPT2 does produce grammatically valid English sentences without visibly encoding any rules of grammar.

Yep and this is what horrified Marcus /Pinker/ Chomsky. Not only does it not help improve their UG assumptions, it basically gets rid of them. So you can understand if they don't want to 'play' in this new space and see what 'interesring ideas' about syntax we can dream up.

They dedicated their lives to this paradigm. It's basically failing before their eyes. No, they won't be friends of this work ever, unless it gets back to grammar as innate, logical, ground-of-cognition. Personally, I don't think the paradigm is finished at all.
