This implies taking steps to bring about a social order less violence-prone could never be ‘concrete’. The only help is self-help. Rather than self-help being distinctly second-best. No self-help solution here should for a second forget the insanity of the regular need for it.https://twitter.com/DavidAFrench/status/1211425971863203845 …

Trying to influence people is less 'concrete' than self-defense because you have less control over the outcome. Generally when I think of "acting concretely" I mean "have a discrete task you have a high chance of accomplishing."

Generally, talking to people is not "concrete." Talking is closer to being concrete the closer it is to being a command, but if it's open-ended, it isn't "doing something", it's having a conversation.

So, "pray that you can exhibit the courage of the man who shot the shooter in Texas" is not a concrete action by your definition. But I'm guessing that's not your point? If not, what is it?

There's a thing here about how "trying to influence society" or "having conversations" is...both bad and somehow unreal, but I had better go think about it until I can say things that are truer.
