There’s a common failure mode — I sometimes fall into it — of thinking of “social skills” as a measure of “how much do you pattern-match to the popular crowd in high school” instead of “how effective are you at achieving interpersonal goals.”

I'm more worried about the former -- if someone *else* says you need people with social skills, this may really be cover to destroy the org.
