(Answer only if you’ve ever derived a mathematical proof.) Have you ever “seen” a proof of a theorem in an intuitive flash of insight?

It happened to me for the first time last week (turned out to be d. though) and it kind of freaked me out at the time since I assumed only geniuses could do that; hence trying to find out roughly how common it is.

The clearest memory I have of this is my first time using cantor's diagonal argument - was given a hint but the proof came in a flash. Still probably my favorite!

An entire proof? I don't think so no. The basic idea that could be fleshed out into one? Um, I guess so, maybe?

I used to think about the Fun. Theorem of Algebra once in a while, not reading existing proofs; then @3blue1brown tweeted a teaser video, not saying it was about that, and it appeared to fill in the biggest hole. Awfully hard to avoid spoilers after 200 years.

Strictly speaking this isn’t proof of a theorem, but it processed very similarly to a proof once I had the flash of insight that it was possible:https://www.chrisrentsch.com/home/Diameter

Haven't ever tried, but would still like to answer. Everything insightful is lightning. It forms up from ground to meet the opposite instigator roiling in the clouds above. Same thing in the brain-body interchange process known as consciousness. Bolts across worn footpaths...
