If you had to pick a date for when “the world as we know it” began, whatever that means to you, what would it be?

The question seems meaningless to me because you can modify the definition to justify any date for practical purposes.

But there are no practical purposes here. The question is very meaningful, only that subjective. Both your definition and the dates you give are probably of interest to Sarah I guess

Why is the question "very meaningful"? Seems more to be the sort of discussion college students find intensely interesting at 4am as the party is finally winding down, but which seems every so much less fascinating if you're well rested at mid-day.

I’m curious about how different people frame things. It’s obviously not a question with a single right answer, but how you answer it tells me something about how you think.

What does it tell you about how they think? Is the resulting information likely to be accurate based on this sample? Is the resulting information actually useful enough to have been worth gathering?

(I recognize that suggesting that meaningless or nearly meaningless questions should be avoided makes me a bit of a party pooper, but I think some parties are best avoided. The world has enough reasonable intellectual diversions already.)
