I tried to get into it on Will’s recommendation but I found the ratio of fluffy editorializing to actual history made it unlistenable. (The series on the Gauls started with about an hour on the topic of “genocide is bad” before actually telling the story!)

I’ve really liked Military History Visualized as a much more fact-dense primer on how war works. (No, it’s not too advanced for a lay audience; I’m as lay as it comes.)

I always worry that materials that talk about WWII German stategy from a neutral perspective are Nazi sympathizers; I can’t tell if MHV is, I know Hardcore History isn’t because he talks about it AT LENGTH; so that’s an advantage but still not enough to make me keep listening.
