Physical resemblance is one of the key ingredients of attraction within a couple and so rarely discussed. Shape of mouth and eyes/nose position seem to be the biggest déterminants.

Hmmm if I really simplify this then the friends of mine who stood by me for the longest - and the people I've been most attracted to - all look like they could be grandkids of my grandparents - this is regardless of ethnicity in my case.

Another thing I noticed is that men in my life split into father type and brother type - and if someone is a "combination" of the two that would be a killer for me haha. Also I am very rarely attracted to people with my colours (I'm the only blonde in our family), etc.

https://www.pnas.org/content/pnas/111/Supplement_3/10796.full.pdf … GWAS data says friends are on average 4th cousins, much more closely related than pairs of strangers.
