Physical resemblance is one of the key ingredients of attraction within a couple and so rarely discussed. Shape of mouth and eyes/nose position seem to be the biggest déterminants.

YEP! We select for cousins=my theory. (Would probably be even creepier to say, "Hey you look like you could be my cousin!" or "Hey you look like MY TRIBE!") Also: there's an uncanny valley + we're attracted to *some* of our own attributes + you & I might actually be cousins

I knew a guy who, after a long illness, noticed that the only friends who stuck by him through his health problems turned out to be 3rd-4th cousins when he compared 23andMe data. (Also, Hungarian Jews.) Spooky!
