On the whole this seems reasonable but I feel like something that's going on is not so much that materials and hard technology aren't advancing is that the low hanging super-fruit are rarer, so you get Moore's law out of 10,000 smaller things instead the invention of transistors

Moore's law is not progress in computer science, it's progress in physics/chemistry/materials etc. but it goes kinda unappreciated compared to single dramatic inventions like eg bakelite or the jet engine. There's definitely institutional stagnation, but I think it's not THAT bad
