I think that we want to believe things that are true, not things that are false, and that people are acting against you if they don't try to coordinate with you around a model of how reality is. Models of the world are not traumatizing. Torturing people in order to teach them is.https://twitter.com/s_r_constantin/status/1117994005524910080 …
I don't think, and Husserl doesn't think, that "basal security" is a model or a belief. It's a disposition. It's what makes thinking and acting possible. @ben_r_hoffman characterized it to me as "courage".

In CR (h/t
@reasonisfun), I don't think you need to posit "basal security" in the first place, because CR claims that you only think in response to problems. You don't need to "have trust" in order to not worry, because you'd only worry in the first place if you saw a problem. -
"Trusting" that the ground beneath your feet will not suddenly disappear is not blind faith or a false belief. I was not saying that alerting people of specific dangers is traumatizing them. "Basal trust" is something you can have even if you know you will die soon.
