Most computational-bio papers do not test the hypothesis that the model they present is any good. It's intellectually dishonest but it seems to be no barrier to publication, and that gives quants an undeserved bad name. I should note though, that one of the inputs to their models involves markers of senescence, and the experiment they conducted was on C. elegans, which doesn't have senescent cells. So that's a bit of a logic fail.
