I'm deeply confused by the worldwide drop in testosterone levels & sperm counts. It's a *huge* effect, too big to be explained by obesity. The most common explanation I see proposed is environmental contaminants. But I don't know if that's true, or which contaminants matter most.

It's a practical concern for me because I have a son. What, if anything, can individuals do to avoid endocrine disruption? (Seriously seeking ideas; evidence-supported only please.)

It would be somewhat weird if this wasn't true given everything we hear about, e.g. primatology. Also, hormones like Testosterone are there to transmit signals. If they didn't rise and fall with information, what would be the point?

I'd *expect* it's a thing but I'm trying to amass facts before coming to definite conclusions, since I've seen examples of studies going lots of directions here.

that's a finding that's been *disconfirmed* a lot too, hence why I don't think this is obvious.

Rumors tell that if you win a game of chess, testosterone levels goes higher. Even if the football club you support wins, the testosterone supposedly goes up.

It’s likely psycho-social adaptation to longer scale urbanization and density. The mouse utopia experiments demonstrate that even without any physical cause for change, mammals can develop maladaptive behaviors over successive generations in close proximity.
