What else have we looked at so far? mapped out a timeline of the developmental milestones children meet on their way to fluent reading. (It's full of research and photos of cute babies, a win-win)

Hi first-year teachers! Are any of you part of a teaching family, with parents, grandparents, or aunts and uncles who were also in the classroom? I'd love to talk with you for an Education Week story. I'm at sschwartz@epe.org.

One mom of a talked with me about an assignment her daughter had been given last year, that asked students to write in support of slavery, from the perspective of a plantation owner. “What editor was like, this is a good idea?” she asked.
