    After just shy of a decade covering Victoria's courts, this is my last day on the round. I'm heading to the other end of town to join our state politics team. So I'll be swapping for . To say I've enjoyed covering this beat would be an understatement.

    The next issue's a doozy. D ALMOST said a word in cross-examination, P asked 'were you going to say bullshit?', D said 'I don't swear', and then he left the witness box, tripped and supposedly said 'shit!', and P was all 'liar!' Actually, P waited 18 days to say that last bit.

    I live right next to a newly locked-down suburb in Melbourne. I have canceled all plans for my 50th birthday. I’ll lock down again if asked. Why? Cos when I left London in March, the UK had 140 deaths. They now have over 40,000. I’d rather be safe.
