    A good rant by a smart fellow; he makes good points & offers good suggestions. But cybersecurity definitely has a skills shortage. If there's work that CISOs acknowledge needs to be done and no people to do it, that's a shortage, even if hiring friction is a contributing cause.

    This. Just discussing with a colleage. We have come from a centralized, almost “command economy” mindset. If that didn’t work for previous centralized economies, what makes us think it will work - or, indeed, *has* worked - for infosec?

    As a thought exercise, before saying “The system is broken!,” instead consider that the system may be working exactly as designed. Instead genuinely ask yourself, “how that might be possible?” Doing so can be quite revealing.
