I'm not talking about some lackey architecture's shortcomings. Code must store control flow information somewhere writeable. All it takes is a memory corruption and that becomes hijackable. And there will be a memory corruption.
And you can throw in mitigations all you want, but look at the latest iPhone: years ahead of its competitors with KTRR, APRR, PPL, PAC, its VMSA lockdown - and yet, all it takes to break it are a few bored students.

The device I'm imaging would be FAR more limited than an iPhone & more like an old 8bit home computer, with the entire OS & a suite of apps stored locally on ROM, but with newer cpu, graphics, etc (it would also be mad, VERY limited & almost completely useless in real world :)
