The problem with software eating the world is that it's a lot more difficult for users to patch bad design with a bit of duct tape.

My wife is such a catch y'all.

Screenshot of a text conversation between myself and @kjrichards.

Me: "If we hopped in a DeLorean right now and traveled as far back in time as Marty McFly, do you know where we would end up?"

Her: "Probably March"

(And, to be sure, the reason the project has lasted this long is because there were many, many days in the past year I did not or could not complete any of the tasks. The difference is that now they're actually *done*)

This is the first day in more than a *year* that I have zero tasks to complete in my basement remodel. It's absolutely incredible! I'll have plenty again after next week when our drywall is done-done, but for now I will enjoy this respite.

And now, the bathroom is covered in drywall too!

And with that, my sprawling, ever-growing fractal list of pre-drywall tasks is officially finished! Good thing, too, since the rest of the basement is fully hung and mudded already!

Before 10am today I had already: ✅ set a shower drain ✅ made a bed of mortar cement ✅ set and leveled a shower base ✅ set the shower walls

A bed of mortar cement spread on a concrete floor to a depth of approximately 2 inches

We’re renovating our basement just so ’s toaster can live close to his office. Yeah, there’s some other stuff down there too but mainly it’s the toaster

I need this beautiful art in my life. In my home, near my most beloved appliance: the toaster. Or in my office, so it can be in all my calls and videos. That's good, too

Here's a time-lapse of me installing that sheet. At the 6 second mark the camera moves closer. Why? Because it was on the same stand that held ALL my staples, and I ran out as soon as I pinned the 28lb sheet to the wall. 🤦🏼‍♂️

Tonight I made one final push to get my soundproofing layer installed so that drywall can go up in our common room/future theater. Here's the very last big piece I had to install, 4ft x 7ft, clocking in at 28 pounds.

Hand pointing at 4 foot by 7 foot sheet of mass loaded vinyl laying on the floor
Hand pointing at a future closet wall, with a 4 foot by 7 foot gap awaiting the mass loaded vinyl
Same wall as before, now fully covered in mass loaded vinyl
