When I answer this for myself, I realized that while the borrow checking is important (and probably is responsible for my initial interest and the language's huge growth), a large portion of my ongoing enjoyment is creditable to how well Rust does all of the other listed items.

I'm curious, for people using #rustlang, how many people would still choose it over Go/C++ if it didn't have the borrow checker, but still had everything else (ecosystem, macros, pattern matching, zero cost abstractions, error messages, type inference, etc.)?

Curious if there would be value in a tool that replaced third-party npm dependencies in a project used for data-heavy operations (text/stream parsing, etc) with faster WASM-based libraries abiding to the same, original APIs.

Why do older languages (C, Java) tend to put return types at the beginning of a function signature, while newer languages (Rust, TypeScript) tend to put it at the end?

Even when I feel like I've discovered a niche problem in my work, it surprises me how I almost always end up discovering someone else has already solved the same problem or a close variation on GitHub.
