    Funny story: A few jobs ago, boss says “Drop everything and make an updated network map.” Me: “Only 3 things make a network map an emergency. One, a security incident. Which I would know about...”

    "Network maps are always wrong. If you have an accurate network map, come find me later and I'll buy you a drink (and will buy you whiskey)" This is 100% safe because network maps either lack enough detail to be useful or they are out of date.

    I did have remote administrative access to it through a... series of events. Used that to look up the home phone number of a cute girl in class. Turned out to be the family phone number, and her dad was not amused, she was supposed to take calls on her phone.

    Or maybe it was an 11/40 or 11-45? Hard to remember, 30-odd years ago. It had the toggle switches on it, I boot toggled it a few times.

    Since the school had punch card readers and writers that no one was using to code, we used them for attendance. Teachers got a stack of cards for all students per class, and sent in the absents cards each day, which got run through the readers.

    I collect old computer books sometimes. Got this one a while back. I got to use an 11/70 running RSTS/E in high school, when it was already well past its prime. We had a use for punch cards, too.

    Super weird to see a train on the BART tracks that isn't BART. of course it makes sense they'd have a maintenance train full of heavy equipment. I just never thought about it before.

    A train rolling through Lake Merritt BART station. It has flat cars, one of which has a port a potty and a crane.
