the civic religion in this country that we can't have one party controlling congress and the presidency because that might lead to Government (which is bad by definition) is going to destroy us allhttps://twitter.com/nytimes/status/1346494182798602241 …

Some Georgia voters who cast ballots for President-elect Joe Biden in November are opting for the Republicans in the Senate runoff races today as a "backstop" to one-party control of government. https://nyti.ms/38dY69s

Along with the fallacy of meaningful compromise. Everyone longing for some weird Reagan/Tip O Neill style relationship is ridiculous

This is my mom. She constantly talks about how "you know you had a good deal when everyone was mad about it! That's how it should be!" Maddening.

Yep, and Biden explicitly ran on this message. Constantly talking about how good it is for the country to have a Republican Party, and that if he's elected they'll have a magical epiphany and be really nice to him and work with him, reinforcing this.

there’s a difference between wanting to balance ideological coalitions to reach mutually-agreeable results a la No Child Left Behind or Medicare Part D - which has its own problems - and wanting to create conditions for gridlock, “those clowns in Congress have done it again” ppl

only 2 voters mentioned in the story, 1 actually voted for trump and the other retweets the federalist. it was the best the NYT could do to proselytize for the religion of divided gov

Biden yes, but Hillary Clinton seems to have a deep loathing of the Republican Party given how it treated her when she was the First Lady.
