Elaine Kamarck here asserts as fact that party leaders are more concerned with electability while party activists care about ideology. That’s backwards. In my experience, activists heavily weigh electability and party leaders are highly ideologicalhttps://mobile.nytimes.com/2018/05/03/opinion/dccc-democratic-primaries-interference.html …

She also says that not everywhere is like Berkeley. I get it, haha. But guess what? The Dem establishment is going hard for Buffy Wicks, the most conservative Dem in a California race to represent...Berkeley. Yes, Berkeley.http://www.berkeleyside.com/2018/04/11/opinion-why-no-tenant-should-vote-for-buffy-wicks-for-assembly …

You know it when you see it. In Wicks’ case, for instance, she has the backing of John Podesta and a bunch of other top folks.

that’s a rather disappointing answer, considering you use the establishment framing for almost every election story.https://billmoyers.com/story/we-know-we-hate-the-establishment-but-do-we-know-what-it-is/ …

They don’t suit up in jerseys that say ESTABLISHMENT across the front. But when a significant number of party leaders are endorsing them, it’s not controversial to say they are establishment backed

so if Emily's list endorses a candidate, they're establishment, but not if Our Revolution endorses them? does it make a difference whether they get Bernie's or Schumer's endorsement? do they need the endorsement of several politicians you deem establishment? what's the threshold?

EL does not automatically mean Establishment. EL+Hoyer+New Dems would. Disagree?

whether I agree or disagree is beside the point. to me, "establishment" is an empty signifier, you seem to think it's a useful term for political analysis. therefore, you should be able to give me an intensional definition.

a candidate who is backed by a significant swath of national leadership in the party, or their local proxies. Don’t make this more complicated than it is

Ryan, how can u work for Glen Greenwald. He says he wants to find balance in Syria coverage (that is, he wants to provide a platform for people to make excuses for CW usage). Can u please demand his resignation.
