@ryangrim My understanding is if Dems + Paul vote against any report on Pompeo (pos or neg) then McConnell will need to pass a still filibusterable resolution discharging the committee to bring him to the floor. Is this your understanding of process?

Right, I have no doubt they have 50 votes in full chamber. But the foreign relations committee is entirely devoid of Trump state Dems. If all of them refuse to vote for an unfavorable report it will take 60 votes to take up on floor.

That would shock me. The only way I see to stop it is with committee Dems. If I were a journalist I would ask all of them if they would be willing to vote for an unfavorable report.
