@ryangrim My understanding is if Dems + Paul vote against any report on Pompeo (pos or neg) then McConnell will need to pass a still filibusterable resolution discharging the committee to bring him to the floor. Is this your understanding of process?

Potentially easier follow up: Do you know when the vote is? My senator's office told me it was expected today.
-
There is no vote on that nomination today.

This seems more relevant now. Almost certainly not enough votes for him to get a favorable report with Coons saying he is leaning against. Which of them will flip to vote for an unfavorable report and save the nomination? This seems like a story.

They're still working the usual Trump-state suspects

Right, I have no doubt they have 50 votes in full chamber. But the foreign relations committee is entirely devoid of Trump state Dems. If all of them refuse to vote for an unfavorable report it will take 60 votes to take up on floor.

The assumption seems to be one of the No votes will agree to vote for an unfavorable report because "the full senate deserves a chance to vote" or some thing like that. It would be nice to know who that will be so people can target them rather than thank them as is happening now.
