No, it was totally me. I rewrote the top and just assumed the person ICE was investigating was an immigrant. Dumb assumption, did it without thinking.

Shouldn't the story have made clear what crime was being investigated? Was it not made clear because no one would find it controversial to investigate a child predator?
It was not clear at the time what the crime was and Facebook hadn't replied yet. Facebook now says it was about a child predator and that's entirely plausible given the email chain.
