1. I didn't notice this email because it doesn't say anywhere that it was a pitch, it looks like a press release. How is the recipient supposed to know what it is? You don't ID yourself or even ask anything of the editors. 2. This was sent on 1/10...
even if I had noticed that it was a pitch, it's not possible that we stole your idea. Would be impossible for us to put together a 9,000 word investigation in 12 days. Our story notes some of the interviews were done in December. I deeply sympathize with...
...how hard it is to be a freelancer. In that vein, some advice: put "pitch" or some such in the subject line, and open the email with: who you are, who you've written for and what you want to write. We need context to distinguish it from the pile of spam we get from PR folks
Could you put Mike's article on the site as well? Can't tell from the screencap but it's possible he covered races yall didn't, which would be nice to learn about.
Here's his piece, which I found on his TL, and yeah, he def covered races we didn't hit: http://therealnews.com/t2/story:20910:Democrats-Openly-Back-Establishment-Candidates-for-2018-Primaries … RTing it now
Thanks! Both of you!
