Main disagreement is that I don't think Democrats being a coalition party (which is a really useful point!) means they can't adopt firm stances, or that low-income Ds and immigrants and the left either have opposing interests or are always mutually exclusive

It seems pretty unsustainable for Dems to try and serve every coalition member along sectoral lines, picking and choosing at will, without some kind of unifying approach. Unity is easier for Republicans, not impossible for Democrats.

Getting CHIP renewed for six years was a real win, something the GOP was holding out on that they gave in on, and it'll matter to millions. So there is definitely that.
