Dude. You probably know better than I do that it's politically driven and utterly dependent upon a racist, thieving criminal justice system. I've only been involved as a defense attorney (never a defendant), but the racket is plain to see.

There's no way out of treatment that doesn't depend on a quasi-faith-based judgment of your counselor. The scam is a circular reasoning trap of if you deny having a problem, you have a problem. If you don't deny having a problem, you have a problem.

That's not to say addiction isn't real, but rather to point out that most "treatment" programs are self-perpetuating grifts.
