Kavanaugh even lied about his connections to Yale: “I have no connections there. I got there by busting my tail.” See this yearbook. He was legacy; his grandfather went there. What pathetic perjury. https://theintercept.com/2018/09/29/the-unbearable-dishonesty-of-brett-kavanaugh/ …pic.twitter.com/NvzyYfGfEX

He’s claiming here that he got into Yale Law School with no connections. YLS certainly took into account in the 1980s if you were legacy. On second thought, I don’t think he was lying. I think he truly believes he hit a triple, even though we all know he was born on third base.

Brett Kavanaugh boasted, under oath, that he got into Yale with no connections. This is verifiably untrue—granddaddy went to Yale. In this thread, I’m going to explain the bullshit that is legacy admissions.

It does. And it’s exactly what I suspected. “i have no connections there”. Between this & MD drinking age how can any litigant appearing before #SCOTUS trust him to honestly construe the facts of their case, much less faithfully state and apply the law?

On next month's SCOTUS docket is Gamble vs US. No 17-646. This is what the rush is about. Yes, they want him to overturn Roe, yes they want him to drag us all back, but they need him seated for October to rule on that specific case.

It sounds like Justice Ginsberg supports eliminating the separate sovereign exception. Both ACLU and Cato support eliminating the exception. I don’t see it as partisan.

In layman terms ... If you get a presidential pardon you can still be tried at the state level. He believes that is wrong and wishes to make it impossible to be tried at state level for any crime pardoned by the POTUS.

I don't think is right. It is preventing states and feds from retrying a case in they other court if they lose.

I think he’s right. They want to make the pardon for both state and federal because of instances like Manafort who is cooperating because he knows that since he pled guilty he could be tried & would be found guilty for those crimes at the state level because he pled at fed level.

The Yale Daily News has its own interpretation of the data. Bottom line is that Yale is disproportionally represented in the applicant pool, and also has very competitive applicants, therefore will have more admits than most schools in each class. 1/

But that is an aggregate phenomenon. No individual applicant has an automatic "in" or a discrete advantage to getting in, and as I've stated previously, is in some ways in a more competitive pool bc there are so many applicants from Yale to distinguish themselves from. 2/

Wikipedia says his father was Everett Edward Kavanaugh, Jr., and his grandfather was Everett Edward Kavanaugh (Sr.) who went to Yale: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brett_Kavanaugh …. So his statement that he had no connection to Yale was incorrect.
