Of these two possible worlds, which one is better for the left? 1 Kavanaugh voted down, Barrett or somebody voted in, respect for the Court, now hell bent on 5-4 destruction, restored 2 Kavanaugh confirmed. Nation views Court as a partisan trainreck with no moral authority
-
-
How about Kavanaugh gets confirmed then impeached by a D-controlled House?
-
Would need two thirds in the Senate
-
By 2020 or 2022, that's not completely impossible. More to the point, when the momentum and majorities shift, there might be a few Republican open to reconsidering.
-
0 Republicans will vote to convict on Impeachment. I'd be more worried about getting all the Democratic votes in line.
-
There is no chance for conviction, BUT you can make Kavanaugh’s life a living hell for several months. Drag this fvcking rapist through the sh!t.
-
nah we gotta get him gone

Ryan - You're missing the point. Total victory for conservatives doesn't mean imposing our agenda on the country through the Supreme Court. It means ending the era of judicial activism. Democrats should welcome, not fear, democracy. Let states & local communities have more power.
-
'Judicial activism' has always been a canard of projection by conservatives. The only 'judicial activists' are the right wing extremists. In the sense that they're activists for white supremacy and misogyny.

There's option 4 as well. Kavanaugh is rammed through, then charged with a sexual assault crime. Meanwhile Dems win, but McConnell & Repubs refuse to give up power, & the 2nd U.S. civil war breaks out. That's the one I'm thinking is entirely too possible.

Don't you mean the nation? "the left" is part of our country. He's a disaster for all of us - not just a segment of it. Even the most right-wing citizens need union jobs, good pay, abortions, & transparency.

Best for the left is don't elect Republican Presidents. But hey, at least that *woman* isn't in power, right?
-
Best to not rig your primary for a weak, deeply flawed and widely despised (for reasons that have absolutely nothing to do with her gender) candidate who then loses even though her hand-picked/elevated for his ineptitude opponent is a ridiculously unqualified reality show clown.

If we're trying to imagine best, why not utopia? At least abolish the anti-democratic institutions of the Supreme Court and the Senate.

*Best, of course, for the COUNTRY is 3: Defeat Kavanaugh and then defeat every other extremist put up until they take the Senate FTFY

We need to stop strategizing. We're not good at it. It hasn't worked. Just do the right thing -Kavanaugh is a monster.

Short of option 3, its accelerationism at this point, right? Maybe we dont get the Court abolished but theres a shot at the Dems stacking it if Kavanaugh is confirmed.

Ryan, outnumbered, and out of ammunition that isn't possible in 2018. Lose this battle withdraw, re-arm with reinforcements and force Krapennow out 2023-ish. IF the GOP swaps Kravennow for an ideolog without the baggage impeachment is far less likely.

How about beginning a campaign to abolish the SCOTUS and making every progressive and socialist candidate vow to it just like they did single payer health care? At the very least, term limit reform.
