Have people started to notice that Brett Kavanaugh’s first instinct appears always to be to lie? Maybe not the best character trait in a judge?

Also, plausible lying 101 is to admit to a lesser offense to earn good will. It's wild that he won't even admit to provable things, like being a heavy drinker & a prick. A little "I'm not proud of everything but I've never done that" would come off better than "I went to church."

Yes! I was expecting this is how he would handle it. But he's of the Trump school, deny deny deny, and all his friends go along with it. That doesn't sound like our Brett!! They were raised to think the rabble are inferior and have no idea we can see them clear as day.

Have you noticed modern "conservatives" don't seem to care? It's the same thing with Trump/Russia. They know, they just don't care.

Yes. I hope that some journalists are pursuing other history of his lies & especially his finances. Some Republicans have talked themselves into a corner. There needs to be evidence of different lies, maybe financial, to give them cover.

@mattyglesias has been banging that gong since Kavanaugh’s nomination. Like, literally since Kavanaugh’s first public statement about his nomination. Which contained a big old lie.

His first comment in his nomination speech was a lie. Blatantly, partisan, a tribute to his boss to show loyalty. Kavanaugh is the agent they require.

The schools he went to were known for that behavior and "boys will be boys attitude" was accepted. However they don't all go on to become supreme Court justices. How many congressmen had similar experiences? Women who came forward are very brave. What a can of worms.

Many Americans didn't care in 2016 when they voted for a future President whose first instinct was to lie. The values of so-called Americans sure have changed since they went all in with Russia and Trump.

I would think habitual lying would violate the duty under Canon 2 of the Code of Conduct for United States Judges ("A Judge Should Avoid Impropriety and the Appearance of Impropriety in all Activities").http://www.uscourts.gov/judges-judgeships/code-conduct-united-states-judges#c …
