The problem with this argument about Medicare for All is that the last expansion of health care raised taxes. It's why the focus on expansion of care instead of cost control is politically unwise.https://twitter.com/ryangrim/status/1042403420257366016 …

Sure the fiscal argument is dumb. Just print the money. Problem is the money will be hoovered up by the hospital lords.
-
Obvious solution, nationalize the hospitals.
-
You beat me to it. And yeah, hospitals would get a flat rate for a year in some plans, minimizing the opportunity for fraud. I worry about the fake scooter makers in Miami
-
Nationalizing the hospitals actually gets us to high quality universal care. Basically VA for all. Or keep the hospitals private but dictate prices. Key is power. M4A is about expansion not power.
-
Totally agree, M4A expands a cash cow for private profit, though it trims the insurance cost side through simplification/rationalization but the provider cost side must also be trimmed.

Not sure how you are going to avoid serious inflation if you do Medicare for all without any taxes or being way more serious about price reduction than either Sanders or HR 676 is advocating for.
