What are you talking about? Do you think it was good journalism to frame the original piece to be about Feinstein keeping secrets, rather than about the allegations themselves? He didn't even mention sexual misconduct till the 3rd/4th graf.

Nor did he explore the possible confidentiality concerns. It was clear to anyone reading that privacy might be why Feinstein would be keeping things under wraps, yet Grim failed to mention that as even a possibility. Do you honestly think this is good reporting?

I'm not even going to get into the fact that Dr. Ford did *not* want this out in the public originally. Even if Grim found out, & thought he should override the survivor's desires, do you *really* think it reflects well on him to have framed the piece to be about Feinstein?

In fact, he did not override her concerns. He reported that Feinstein had a letter she did not share with her Dem colleagues and had been holding onto for a long while. That was fair reporting.

Thanks Jodi. It’s been interesting, some folks are upset I didn’t write about the allegations in the first story or put them in the headline. Others think it shouldn’t have been written at all. Some think both things! (See above person.)

Friend, it's really time to look in a mirror and really think about how you came to be in the position of outing a victim of sexual assault who wanted to remain anonymous by writing a hit piece on Feinstein that aged incredibly poorly.

You also gotta love the classic journalistic trope implicit in that tweet: Some people are calling me X, others are saying I'm not X! I must be in the middle of those extremes and doing something right! I'm clearly just a neutral observer.

The “I get criticized by both sides so I must have been right” is the laziest cop-out tool in the journalist’s bag, always employed to avoid self-reflection.

Fair? Fair to who? You are taking the power out of the survivors hands. Retraumatization. Then blaming Dianne Feinstein and then the victim has to defend herself because reporters are hunting her down. The only way a victim becomes a Survivor is when we take control back.

My least favorite twitter is Reporters Circle The Wagons twitter. The really great writers are those who are able to self-reflect - I'm seeing a complete refusal to even consider that from these three. That's how hacks are made.
