Worth keeping in mind this is not just Feinstein. Anna Eshoo was initially sent the letter and only shared with DiFi.https://twitter.com/sahilkapur/status/1040285992522014720 …

But sharing it massively increases the odds of her being outed.

Redact the name and other info before you let them see it and don’t give out a copy. The senators on the committee do not trust Feinstein to make this decision unilaterally without them seeing it.
-
She should ask the Intercept for advice, you folks are so good at redacting sensitive info.

Yea but what if it turned out to be fake or something? Don’t you think it was something that should be vetted thoroughly they trot it out as big news? This isn’t just some Cinseros voicemail we’re talking about here..

Just circulating means more eyes on, more chances for leaks. Obviously she didn't want to risk that. But sure she's up to something.

More eyes on a confidential letter = more risk of it being leaked and outing the woman in question. Sharing seems like a bad look when they've expressly asked for confidentiality. It's not worth it.

Yes, there is - if this person didn’t want it shared she didn’t want it shared and the more people who have it increases the chances it will be leaked.
