If that’s true why did Carper spend so much money on the race? He took it seriously cause he knew Harris had a message that would resonate

Now, clearly the Delaware left has a lot more organizing to do before it can win a senate seat, but the results of are not set in stone. If a political newcomer could do as well as she did imagine what a well funded campaign and name recognition could do!

Spend more than five minutes here. She never had a chance. The finance, pharmaceutical and chemical industries employ 50% of this state’s workforce. People aren’t voting against their employers here. Her brand doesn’t play. He spent it because he could, you can’t take it home.

This is the problem, a local media so cowed by perception of the bank/pharma/chem dominance that they spent 40 years failing to report on the real-world implications of their political leadership.

We shouldn't have had 10 words to write about this race but the empty-headed cult of the savvy is so focused on the "Delaware way" that they don't report on the activities of their leaders. I looked real real hard for evidence to the contrary, there was none.

What Dave said. Now that the race is over and the national media are gone, do your job. One reason
@kerriharrisde lost is that the local media did not leave an accurate impression of Carper with Delaware voters. So all they know is the nice guy at the Y and the parade.3 replies 0 retweets 12 likes -
This is truly outstanding. It's good to know that the "accurate" representation of a politician is the one you guys determine. And if people have a different impression, it is the fault of local media. Not, say, that you - national reporters -- are perhaps wrong. Good to know.

What exactly in Carper's record that we've reported is inaccurate, Neera? His co-authoring of the bankruptcy bill, his boasting of the largest prison expansion in Delaware history, or his vote to make English the official language of the U.S.?

I didn't say you've inaccurately reported anything. I'm saying that if people have a different impression of a politician than the one you depicted, maybe they have different priorities than you. But be my guest on crapping on local reporters, that's certainly a great look.

Of course we know that local reporters are venerated. I’m not being critical because it’s a good look. But find a skeptical story on Carper anytime from ‘76 till July 2018. Anything Local press literally turned his spousal abuse into a positive by criticizing dirty campaigning.
