The bipartisan chumminess of the “Delaware Way” is what Harris was running against, and while she didn’t win, she did well enough despite her handicaps to show there is an unserved constituency that responds to that message.

Except no. People in Delaware thrive on working together. It’s not a bad thing. The fact you can get the mayor of Wilmington, county executive, governor and congressional delegation in a room within an hour and hammer something out is what Delawareans love about this state.

Harris didn’t win a single district in the state, and the vote was similar to the Sanders/Clinton breakdown from 2016. The Democratic Party has a varied makeup just like the Republican Party, but Delaware’s Democratic majority supports pragmatism to idealism 2:1.

If that’s true why did Carper spend so much money on the race? He took it seriously cause he knew Harris had a message that would resonate

Now, clearly the Delaware left has a lot more organizing to do before it can win a senate seat, but the results of are not set in stone. If a political newcomer could do as well as she did imagine what a well funded campaign and name recognition could do!

Spend more than five minutes here. She never had a chance. The finance, pharmaceutical and chemical industries employ 50% of this state’s workforce. People aren’t voting against their employers here. Her brand doesn’t play. He spent it because he could, you can’t take it home.

This is the problem, a local media so cowed by perception of the bank/pharma/chem dominance that they spent 40 years failing to report on the real-world implications of their political leadership.

We shouldn't have had 10 words to write about this race but the empty-headed cult of the savvy is so focused on the "Delaware way" that they don't report on the activities of their leaders. I looked real real hard for evidence to the contrary, there was none.

What Dave said. Now that the race is over and the national media are gone, do your job. One reason @kerriharrisde lost is that the local media did not leave an accurate impression of Carper with Delaware voters. So all they know is the nice guy at the Y and the parade.

And if you think Chase or DuPont employees below the executive level are proud of what Chase and DuPont do and want favors showered on them, you're not talking to the actual workers, just their bosses. Plenty of Harris' volunteers worked for those very companies.

Yeah, you guys looked "real, real hard" while cranking out propaganda for the Harris campaign. I don't know when The Intercept became The Daily Caller for the left, but it's disappointing to see a site who had a legitimate mission devolve into partisan shilling.

Come spend any time in this state outside an election cycle and you all might learn anything about what Delawareans care about or what motivates them in elections. Carper and Coons, their records and actions, have bene reported extensively. You wouldn't know from two minutes here

ryan it's about time you quit your job as a writer and go work on campaigns. this unbecoming horseshit would then become an appropriate component of your job.
