Are the people then applauding him?

Yes, they are

That was disgusting. She seemed to be the only thinking, decent person in the mic’s range. So many things wrong with America on display in that room.

Disappointed in the other people in the room who APPLAUDED his demeaning attitude toward a voting constituent. She is 18, so in his eyes she is old enough for gun ownership but not to ask a very reasonable question about (1) his corporate interests (2) the survival of our planet.

“Are we here to elect a governor or are we here to elect a scientist?” Once again, pandering to the right-wing distrust of anything that just might involve higher education.
-
I know, but I wanted to shout, a good a Governor would recognize the need to set policy into the future to mitigate risks from climate change. So that Governor needs to listen to scientists on things he CLEARLY does not understand.

His example of the rain water and infrastructure needs, well those aren’t mutually exclusive. PA has seen an increase in torrential rainfall with rising temps. So his example was not exclusive of her question. But he is too bloody stupid to realize that.
-
The correct answer to that was, "You're not going to do anything about *that*, either."

Did anyone ask WHY IS THERE SUDDENLY SUCH LARGE RAINFALLS? Evidently, water sewage plants have been able to handle rainfalls in the past. What changed? And SHAME on him for putting down a bright, interested young woman. People should have objected to his remark. Shame on them too
