wait i thought the democratic party was evil and party elites were just a bunch of corporatist neoliberal shi- Oh. That's only when they do stuff you don't like. Like support the more qualified woman candidate.

I’ve never opposed the principle of the party using its power in primaries or anywhere else. Question is to what end it uses that power, and on whose behalf.
-
"ON WHOSE BEHALF" Yup, that sums up the hypocrisy.
-
So you support the party elites no matter whose behalf they work on? (Don’t read wiki on the history of the Democratic party! Might raise some uncomfortable questions. On whose behalf a party fights is not incidental, it’s everything.)
-
Condescend much? "Don't read wiki"? I don't need to - I'm a former CA state delegate & a CA voter. Thanks for Beltway-splaining CA to me. Lucky for
#DiFi that we CA voters don't take our voting advice from a 330-member board - or from Ryan Grim. We spoke loudly in the primary. -
That doesn’t answer the question. If you disagree with the party sometimes, but not other times, does that make you a hypocrite? Or does it means you think there are higher values than party loyalty?
-
I think you and Greenwald are hypocrites. Not going to dance around it. I think party endorsements are fine. I also think they are largely worthless based on 25 yrs working in politics In my area both the party endorsed candidates for State Rep and State Sen lost. My problem with

Your gymnastics is that you and others at the Intercept have pushed the idea that Bernie Sanders lost b/c of party intervention. He didn’t - he got 4m fewer votes (that’s a lot). However party intervention is fine b/c you prefer DeLeon to Feinstein. That’s just plain hypocrisy.

dear Intercept: you kinda ignored how Feinstein overwhelmingly won the CA primary by, you know, ACTUAL VOTERS: 2.9 million over 840,000 or so. https://vote.sos.ca.gov/returns/us-senate …

all I read is that Feinstein already has a vast majority of voters backing her, with few sane reasons for those voters to go flipping over to wassisname.

You pretty much cribbed your article from last Feb when DeLeon almost got the nod from the CA party because of the far left disrupters. How'd that work out for Kevin? Oh yeah--12% of the vote. This endorsement doesn't appear to be the will of the people, but Berners don't care.

Neither candidate got enough votes for the party's endorsement in the primary, although DeLeon got more than DF. But DF got 44% of the vote to KDLs paltry 12% in June's primaries. That's almost 3 million votes for her & 800,000 votes for him in a field of about 30 candidates.
-
So this "endorsement" is a result of the loud obnoxious Berners & DeMoro fans who infiltrated our state party. They obviously don't represent the will of the majority just like Bernie didn't in 2016. They still don't seem to realize they're playing right into Putin's hands.

The
@CA_Dem party is trying to force us to accept DeLeon just like the Berners tried to force Bernie on us at the convention after he lost by a landslide. Don't ever give us your "will of the people" arguments anymore because clearly the far left don't care about that. -
The far left wants to seize the means of production with a vanguard of revolutionary grad students on behalf of the working classes, and use terror to produce the wills you speak of. Not sure what you’re talking about.

There is a genuine pushback against Feinstein and a feeling among many her days may be numbered.
-
Not a chance. Feinstein won with 2,859,716 primary votes to DeLeon's 779,111. She bested him 44.2% to 12%. DiFi wins and fuck the CA Democratic Party.
-
Where’s your passion for DiFi come from? Not criticizing, just curious
-
DeLeon got 12% of the Democratic primary vote to her 44.2%. How is the CA Democratic Party representing the voters of CA by endorsing DeLeon? The Bernie faction took over, now we all pay for their losses because they're butt hurt children
#shameful -
Kevin de León stumped for Hillary during the primary (
).
This isn't a simple "Bernie vs. Hillary" proxy, like some partisans are desperate to make it out to be (ex. Tom Watson), there's more there about the CA Dem party and whether Feinstein's approach to politics still fits.pic.twitter.com/sVRlYJNu6J

I think it’s a young versus old dynamic. Let’s face it, septuagenarians have failed us for generations.
