Is there any evidence that soda taxes have actually achieved the desired behavior anywhere they've been passed?
-

-
Yes, it's in the piece, significant drop in consumption
-
Is there a way to correlate the results of the questionnaire with empirical data?
-
So far this is what public health advocates have been able to do. The groups with access to empirical data of local consumption would be the soda industry, which may be unwilling to supply it!
-
Doesn't the commerce department keep statistics on this stuff?
-
At the local level? We're only talking about a handful of cities with these taxes

If soda-taxing represents cutting edge thinking in single party Democratic CA, give up.
-
What's cutting-edge, actually, is big companies putting together a harmful ballot measure and then blackmailing the legislature to get what they want
-
Who said it wasn't?
